Black Friday 2026 is Friday, November 27, and Cyber Monday is November 30. Meta points out that this leaves only 28 days until Christmas, about a week less than most years. If you sell on Amazon, Etsy, eBay or your own Shopify store, you have about five weeks to lock your reference prices, check stock and margin, get ads learning early, plan shipping and staff up for returns that run into January.

Dates that already passed, and the ones still open

Some 2026 cutoffs are already behind you as of October 25. Knowing which ones saves you from chasing a door that has closed.

Date What it means
Oct. 20 Amazon closed Black Friday and Cyber Monday deal submissions
Oct. 21 and Oct. 28 Amazon FBA arrival deadlines for Black Friday Week stock (minimal splits, then Amazon-optimized splits)
Oct. 27 Etsy opt-in date to be considered for Cyber Specials marketing
Nov. 23 to Dec. 1 Etsy Cyber Specials sitewide sale
Nov. 27 Black Friday
Nov. 30 Cyber Monday
Dec. 17 USPS Ground Advantage recommended send-by date for Christmas (lower 48)
Jan. 31, 2027 Last day for Amazon holiday returns on items bought Nov. 1 to Dec. 31

Your week-by-week plan to November 27

Oct. 26 to Nov. 1: reference prices and margin

  1. Freeze the regular price of every item you plan to discount and screenshot each listing weekly with the date visible. The FTC pricing guides treat an inflated “was” price as deceptive; our guide to honest Black Friday discounts covers what counts as a real former price.
  2. Work out the margin at the sale price for each item, with marketplace fees, shipping and payment processing included.
  3. Sort products into three groups: items that can carry a real discount, items that only get a bundle or free shipping, and items that stay at full price.

Nov. 2 to Nov. 8: inventory and ads live

  1. Place restock orders now and get the supplier’s delivery date in writing. If you use FBA, Amazon’s Black Friday Week arrival deadlines (Oct. 14 for AWD, Oct. 21 and Oct. 28 for FBA, per beBOLD and PPC Land) have passed, so plan to fulfill late stock yourself.
  2. Turn on or scale up your campaigns now so the bidding systems learn before the peak (see the ad section below).
  3. Confirm that conversions are tracked in Google Ads and in the Meta pixel. Automated bidding cannot optimize sales it never sees.

Nov. 9 to Nov. 15: a dry run

Pack 20 test orders from start to finish and time it. Print labels, check that marketplace stock matches the shelf and test your checkout on a phone. Write down every bottleneck and fix it by Nov. 20, while you can still switch boxes or carriers.

Nov. 16 to Nov. 22: shipping, packaging and support

  1. Buy boxes, tape and padding for the volume you expect, with a buffer.
  2. Write saved replies for the questions you get most: delivery date, tracking, exchanges and returns.
  3. Post your return and refund policy where buyers can read it in full before they pay. Stripe’s fraud guidance says card issuers may reject a checkbox with only a link as proof the customer saw your policy.
  4. Promise only ship dates you can keep, and know what to tell buyers when an order runs late. Our guide to the FTC shipping rule for online sellers covers delay notices.

Nov. 23 to Nov. 30: peak week

  1. Sync inventory across channels several times a day. Overselling leads to cancellations and bad reviews.
  2. Ship every day instead of letting orders pile up over the weekend.
  3. Change bids and budgets once a day, based on the last 24 hours of attributed sales and ROAS.

December and January: returns

Amazon’s holiday window means items bought on Amazon.com from Nov. 1 through Dec. 31, 2026 can be returned until Jan. 31, 2027 (Apple products by Jan. 15). According to PPC Land, the Seller News post of Oct. 16 says it applies to both FBA and seller-fulfilled orders, needs no action from sellers and “will apply every year.” Budget for those returns before you count Black Friday profit.

What Amazon, Etsy, eBay and Shopify published for 2026

Amazon. The submission window for Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals closed on Oct. 20, 2026, according to an Amazon Seller News post dated Oct. 8 and reported by PPC Land and beBOLD. The notice did not give a cutoff hour or time zone. PPC Land also reports that since April 23, 2026, a seller-submitted List Price needs outside evidence, such as recent sales at another retailer, or Amazon will not show a strike-through price. If you missed the deal window, you can still lower your own price or run coupons and promotions from Seller Central; deal fees and eligibility for 2026 are shown in the Deals dashboard of your account.

Etsy. Etsy’s sitewide sale is called Cyber Specials and runs from Nov. 23 at 12:00 a.m. ET to Dec. 1 at 11:59 p.m. ET, according to Etsy’s announcement in its community forum. To be eligible for Etsy’s marketing during the sale, opt in by Oct. 27 and offer at least 25% off. The opt-in stays open through the sale, but joining late only skips the marketing consideration. The path is Shop Manager, then Marketing, then Sales and Discounts, then Cyber Specials. Before you commit to 25%, check what Etsy’s fees leave you on the discounted price with our breakdown of Etsy selling fees.

eBay. eBay published a 2026 holiday seller playbook in August and opened bundle discounts to all sellers, according to Value Added Resource (Aug. 22, 2026). Sellers set percentage discounts for two, three and four or more items; bundles stack with sale events but not with coupons or order discounts, and you can exclude up to 100 listings. eBay’s survey of 2,000 US shoppers found that 57% expect to start holiday shopping by October or earlier and more than half compare prices across sites. eBay did not publish Black Friday event dates for sellers in that material.

Shopify. Shopify is your own store, so there is no platform campaign to join or opt-in deadline. You set the discounts, codes and dates. For scale, Shopify said its merchants generated about $14.6 billion in sales over the 2025 Black Friday Cyber Monday weekend, with a peak of $5.1 million per minute at 12:01 p.m. EST on Black Friday. Shopify notes the figures are approximate and unaudited. Traffic concentrated in a few hours is the reason to load-test your checkout, theme and apps a week before.

Ad budgets and bids at peak: Google and Meta

Google Ads. Google’s help center describes seasonality adjustments as an advanced tool to tell Smart Bidding about an expected change in conversion rates. Google says to use them only when you expect major changes, because Smart Bidding already accounts for routine seasonal patterns. They work best for short events of 1 to 7 days and may not work as well for periods longer than 14 days. They apply to Search, Shopping, Demand Gen and Display campaigns using Target ROAS or Target CPA, and to Performance Max with any bid strategy. No negative adjustment is needed after the promotion ends.

Meta. In its 2026 holiday guidance for small businesses, covered by Social Media Today in August, Meta advised starting ads by mid-October so the system can learn before the peak, and planning budgets to grow during the Black Friday to Cyber Monday window instead of pulling back. Meta splits the fourth quarter into four phases (discovery, deals, gifting and a fresh start in the new year), according to Relevant Audience. Mid-October has passed. If your campaigns are not running yet, launching this week gives them more learning time than launching on Thanksgiving.

A worked example (hypothetical numbers)

These numbers are made up to show the math. Use your own.

  • An item sells for $60. After product cost, fees, shipping and payment processing, $18 is left before ads. Break-even ROAS is 60 ÷ 18 = 3.3. Below that, every ad-driven sale loses money.
  • For Black Friday you sell it at $51 (15% off). Costs stay the same, so $9 is left. Break-even ROAS rises to 51 ÷ 9 = 5.7.
  • At a $40 daily budget, you need at least $227 a day in ad-attributed sales (40 × 5.67) just to break even. That is about 4.5 orders a day at the sale price.
  • If your conversion rate is usually 2% and your own history shows 3% from Nov. 26 to Nov. 29, that is a 50% lift. A +50% seasonality adjustment on those four days follows the example Google gives in its own help page.

A 15% discount pushed the minimum ROAS from 3.3 to 5.7. If the term is new to you, start with what ROAS is and your break-even number.

Shipping and carrier deadlines

USPS published its 2026 recommended send-by dates for delivery before Dec. 25 in the lower 48 states:

Service Send by
USPS Ground Advantage Thursday, Dec. 17
First-Class Mail Thursday, Dec. 17
Priority Mail Friday, Dec. 18
Priority Mail Express Saturday, Dec. 19

USPS says actual delivery can vary with origin, destination and acceptance time, and Ground Advantage to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and US territories can take longer. If you are choosing between the two main services, see USPS Ground Advantage vs Priority Mail.

USPS did not publish a Black Friday shipping deadline, and UPS’s 2026 holiday cutoff dates were not available on a public page as of Oct. 25. What eBay did share with sellers is the peak surcharge calendar: UPS peak rates run from Sept. 27, 2026 to Jan. 16, 2027, with a demand surcharge on UPS Ground, Ground Saver and Air packages bought through eBay Labels; FedEx peak rates run from Sept. 28, 2026 to Jan. 17, 2027. Price your shipping with those surcharges in mind, especially if you offer free shipping on sale items.

Scams and chargebacks aimed at sellers

Chargebacks. A dispute happens when a cardholder asks their card issuer to reverse a payment. Stripe’s fraud guidance lists warning signs: an order much larger than usual or only for your priciest items, a shipping address changed after checkout, a request for expedited shipping, high-resale products, and a shipping address that does not match the billing address. For orders like that, Stripe suggests holding shipment for 24 to 48 hours so the real cardholder has a chance to report fraud. It also recommends shipping with tracking and delivery confirmation, a recognizable statement descriptor (5 to 22 characters, usually your store name or domain) and quick refunds when you are sure an order is fraud. Note that card issuers do not follow links, so tracking evidence must be submitted as screenshots.

Fake payment and overpayment messages. During peak week, watch for buyers who push you to ship before payment clears or who ask to move the conversation off the marketplace. Ship only after the payment shows as completed in your marketplace or payment dashboard.

Mistakes that cost sellers money in late November

Raising prices in October to “make room” for a discount. It invites a deceptive pricing complaint, and on Amazon an unsupported List Price no longer shows a strike-through.

Leaving a seasonality adjustment on for two weeks. Google says the tool may not work as well beyond 14 days. Schedule it for the peak days only.

Stacking a coupon on top of a sale price. A store coupon plus a sale price plus free shipping can wipe out the margin. Run the math on the final price the buyer pays.

Launching new campaigns on Thanksgiving. Meta recommended starting by mid-October because the system needs time to learn. A campaign created on Nov. 26 reaches the peak with no learning history.

Promising Christmas delivery past the carrier cutoff. Many Black Friday orders are gifts. Put the last safe order date for Christmas on your listings and in your store banner.

Frequently asked questions

Can I still run a Black Friday sale on Amazon if I missed the deal deadline?

Yes. The Oct. 20 cutoff applies to Best Deals and Lightning Deals. You can still lower your own price or set up coupons and promotions in Seller Central, as long as any reference price you show is real.

Do I have to join Etsy’s Cyber Specials?

No. Etsy describes participation as optional and says it works best for shops with inventory to support a sale. If you join, the minimum is 25% off during the sale dates.

Does Amazon’s extended return window cost me anything?

The extension itself has no fee and needs no action, but more returns can arrive through January 31. Check the condition of each returned item quickly so you can relist it or file a claim if it comes back damaged.

When should I scale ad budgets back down?

After Cyber Monday, Meta’s calendar shifts from the deals phase to gifting. Return to your normal budget and switch your ads from discount messages to gift messages with a clear last order date.
