Bottom line: as of October 2026, Shopify Basic costs $29 a month billed yearly or $39 billed monthly, plus a card fee on every sale.

Yes. The page lists a 3-day free trial, then $1 a month for 3 months on most plans, and the FAQ says no credit card is required for the trial.
Use your plan's rate. Here is our own example to show the math, for a $100 sale paid by card online at the standard rate:
On Basic, the gap is $10 a month: $29 x 12 = $348 a year versus $39 x 12 = $468. That saves $120. On Grow, the gap is $26 a month, or $312 a year.
The page lists an extra transaction fee when you use a payment provider other than Shopify Payments: 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow, 0.6% on Advanced and 0.2% on Plus.
